We’re continuing our series of blogs through the holidays of “The Gift Is In The Present.” Today’s blog talks about how the Gift is in Caring.
This is a way to remind ourselves that the best moments of our lives are the moments when we’re fully in them. I don’t know about you, but it’s been taking an intentional effort for me not to be overwhelmed and distracted by the constant barrage of information, noise and distractions of life. Finding moments of “The Gift Is In The Present” truly takes something. The practice of finding “The Gift Is In The Present” gives me the opportunity to stop and appreciate what we’re doing here at Shakti, why we do it, and why gifts can also be found in how we care.
How much we care
For those of you who have been part of the Shakti Family for the last 30 years, you know how much we care about our guests and our commitment to making your visit with us as nurturing and enjoyable as possible. With the current health concerns and Health Department guidelines, many of our personal “touches” have been replaced with safer practices. This year we’re doing everything we can to make doing business with us just as caring and as nurturing as it was before — it just may look a bit different.
Here are a few things we’re doing to show we’re offering the gift of caring for you and your safety when you visit the salon:
- The gift of space. We’re expanding and remodeling our upstairs loft to add more space to our color services area. As we perform more Aveda hair color than any salon in NEPA (Margie, Amy, Stephen and Dana have a combined 90 years of color experience!), we needed additional space so our Team can do their best work for you.
- The gift of Aveda aromatherapy. In the coming weeks, our guests may see and smell something amazing as you walk in the door. We will soon be adding Aveda Aromatherapy Facials to our safe services menu. Our new Esthetician, Ivy, (currently working in Guest Services as she gets to know everyone) will be caring for you during the holidays with this amazing service. - The gift of the holidays. Every year Aveda goes out of their way to make holiday gift-giving easy. This year’s Aveda gift sets are absolutely gorgeous, and we can’t wait for you to see them! We unpacked MANY boxes this week and they’re now on display at the salon. Our gift sets are priced to save you money and are packaged in beautiful gift boxes.
- The gift of extraordinary service. If you haven’t been to our website recently, we’ve added a new feature to make it easier for you to make a reservation with us. The “Last Minute Appointments” button is an easy way to give you instant access to any last-minute appointment openings and cancellations. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Last but not least, as we begin our busiest time of the year, we’d like to take a moment to say “thank you” for your loyalty, and your gifts of caring and understanding as we continue to redesign our business for safe services. We understand it’s been challenging for you, too, and our goal is for Shakti to be a place for you to visit and experience “The Gift Is In The Present” while being truly cared for.
